It is going to be some long days for the next two weeks but my house is going to be so perfect for us!
We are new home owners on Blairmont Drive in Boone, NC! We have a huge remodel project starting today and we hope that you will follow us through the entire process. I think it will be amazing to watch us transform this house into our home!

2 weeks and I think we are going to make it!
When the hardwood floors came in I could hardly contain my excitement. This is a huge project and it looks amazing!! James has put in some serious work to make them look that good :) I have finished the painting in the pantry, kids bath, and started on the 50 pieces of trim. Seriously, it is 50 pieces and it might kill me before it is done. My half bath has a toilet and a sink, thank you Andy! That makes 2 working toilets! Preston has fixed the roof leak and he is my hero :) The countertops are here but not secure. Julie found this out when she tried to hang on the bar and it almost fell on top of her. My mom says, "I told you that would happen". Yes mom, you did. Coy has almost knocked out the painting in the stairwell. He is my other hero!

Lots of changes
It has been a hectic week at the new house. We finally got the sheetrock finished so the walls were primed and got the first coat of paint. I did lighten the paint and I'm very happy with it :)
The tile is up in the half bath and grouted. I have to get some dark grout for the laundry and it will be finished too!
The kids were so excited that Daddy let them help "build their house".
The light is in over the sink and the chandelier in the dining room.
Julie says you should always wear an Optimus Prime mask when the saw is on. It protect your eyes :)

We decided to...
I took a little vacation from the home remodel this week. My shoulder is not handling the sheetrock spreading and sanding, so I stayed out of the way. That means that Chad has been there Monday night and Wednesday night. He only worked for about 2 hours each day on the sheetrock . He called me Wednesday on his way home and said he was never touching the mud again and was going to pay someone to finish. DUH, CHAD! Told you to do that 2 weeks ago. When you let the guy think its his idea, its always such a good idea! We are still (barely) under budget and this is money well spent. So, I'm meeting a drywall finisher tomorrow to see how much it is going to cost to finish the upstairs. Whatever it costs, it will be worth it.
It is March 1 today. We have one month to be ready for move in day. List to move in:
Finish sheetrock
Primer all of upstairs
Paint all of upstairs
Tile install in half bath
Grout kitchen and half bath
Kitchen countertops
Kitchen backsplash
Install hood range
Desktop for desk cabinet
Plumb all sinks, dishwasher, 2 toilets
Hook up frig and stove
Install hardwood
Install carpet
Fireplace builtins
Finish pantry
Tile kids bath
Kids vanity, cabinet, and light
Tile laundry room
Cross your fingers people!

Finally Friday
I have worked hard this week! No, really, I have! The downstairs living room and hallway is finished!! It is a gorgeous shade of gray. It was between the color cards of gray meadow and shaken not stirred. Without a second thought, shaken not stirred :)
I spent one afternoon working on the stairs. I pulled every old carpet staple and hammered in all the loose nails. There were more than I could even count. That job was awful! But now, they are ready to be sanded and stained.
I bought paint this week for the living room and kitchen. I painted a spot and hated it. Jason, the nice paint man at Lowes that probably hates to see me coming, let me bring it back and he lightened it for me. The pic is of the new color. I like it with the new hardwood floors but I'm still not thrilled with it next to the beams. So, stay tuned to see if it sticks :)

A few good days
On Saturday I had a date with the Wallace Propane gas man :) He ran lines for my propane fireplace in the living room and the bedroom. I cant wait to get my logs in!
Sunday brought my new kitchen cabinets. Dad and Coy put them up in about an hour. They look great!
Mondays always bring progress in Blairmont! Coy, Piv, James, and Chad were off work so we were busy. Sheetrock is going up, mud is drying, and I am sanding. My shoulder can feel it! James got the light up in Julie's room. She loves it! We did the kitchen tile, again, and it looks perfect this time :)
Tuesday was more sheetrock and fixing the leaky front window. The wood underneath the window was completely rotten. But, is all fixed now!

** During all this progress I have had a heavy heart. Please pray for Dara and her family. I can not imagine the heartache they are feeling right now. **

Slow days
Its was really slow over at the house last week. My sheetrock/painter/carpenter is out of town so i tackled some other projects. My white fabric headboard for my king bed is ready!
I started on Katie's bedside table, but it needs more fluff :)
Chad and James took off Friday to start on my kitchen floor. They laid the first box of tile and it looked really good. I did some errands with the twins and came back about 3 o'clock. I walked into the kitchen and oh... no... the 18 x 18 tiles are the wrong color. The first box was brown the rest were too gray! They were only a few shades off but not at all what I wanted. Chad did not notice until I mentioned it. He tried to seal it and convince me it was the same, but it wasn't. I called Lowes and made the flooring guy come up and look at the floor. Chad tells him that he is just working there and that I am the owner. Yeah, he just threw me under the bus all alone on this! Lowes guy agreed with me and they are refunding and reordering the tile. Chad, who is not happy at all, pulled up every 18 x 18 and scraped up the thin set. I told him thank you, but he didn't talk to me until later Friday night. Now, we are waiting on the reorder and then my floor will be done!

Great weather for a remodel
The weather in Boone has been great this week. I ( we ) painted the master bedroom with the windows open and the radio blasting. The ceiling and the walls are a crisp white with a green accent wall. Well... I like the green. My dad pretended he didn't see it and Chad asked if he ever got to pick a color for the house. I told him he could pick any color he wanted for the garage and the workshop. :) I love it!
When it doesn't snow in Boone, you put on your bibs and play in the mud.
All of the windows in the house are in great shape, but they were all installed incorrectly. So, every one of them has to come out and be put back in the correct way. This is very time consuming. It's much better than buying new ones which is what we originally thought!
With all of the big projects going on, I forget about the little things. This made me smile and I retired to home for the weekend with my babies :)

What an awesome Friday!
Today has been so incredibly fantastic!! Dad and Coy came over this morning to install the bottom set of kitchen cabinets that Dad made me. It took about 2 hours because the kitchen floor is completely unlevel.
But now they are in and they are perfect!
Chad and Tim dumped 2 loads of gravel into the trench, then put in the new drain pipe, then one more loads of gravel. Then, pushed all the dirt back in. I can see my driveway again!
Katie's and Julie's rooms are complete with 2 coats of primer on the ceilings, walls, and trim. Then 2 coats of paint on the ceilings, walls, and trim. It looks so fresh and clean!

Serious shopping
Me and my crew swarmed Lowes on Saturday, split up with our respective lists, and did some major damage. It took 2 hours in the store, 30 minutes of that to check out and load the trucks and trailer. It only took a 20 seconds to swipe the credit card :) I got almost everything to finish the house!
After the sun dried the front of the house today the black tar waterproofing stuff was slapped on. Then, plastic to keep the water out. Hopefully, we can get some gravel and put the first drain in tomorrow!!
Coy and I are still mudding sheetrock. I feel like it is never going to end!
