Great weather for a remodel

The weather in Boone has been great this week.  I ( we ) painted the master bedroom with the windows open and the radio blasting.  The ceiling and the walls are a crisp white with a green accent wall.  Well... I like the green.  My dad pretended he didn't see it and Chad asked if he ever got to pick a color for the house.  I told him he could pick any color he wanted for the garage and the workshop. :)  I love it!

When it doesn't snow in Boone, you put on your bibs and play in the mud.

All of the windows in the house are in great shape, but they were all installed incorrectly.  So, every one of them has to come out and be put back in the correct way.  This is very time consuming.  It's much better than buying new ones which is what we originally thought!

With all of the big projects going on, I forget about the little things.  This made me smile and I retired to home for the weekend with my babies :)

What an awesome Friday!

Today has been so incredibly fantastic!!  Dad and Coy came over this morning to install the bottom set of kitchen cabinets that Dad made me.  It took about 2 hours because the kitchen floor is completely unlevel.

But now they are in and they are perfect!

Chad and Tim dumped 2 loads of gravel into the trench, then put in the new drain pipe, then one more loads of gravel.  Then, pushed all the dirt back in.  I can see my driveway again!

Katie's and Julie's rooms are complete with 2 coats of primer on the ceilings, walls, and trim.  Then 2 coats of paint on the ceilings, walls, and trim.  It looks so fresh and clean!

Serious shopping

Me and my crew swarmed Lowes on Saturday, split up with our respective lists, and did some major damage.  It took 2 hours in the store, 30 minutes of that to check out and load the trucks and trailer.  It only took a 20 seconds to swipe the credit card :)  I got almost everything to finish the house!
After the sun dried the front of the house today the black tar waterproofing stuff was slapped on.  Then, plastic to keep the water out.  Hopefully, we can get some gravel and put the first drain in tomorrow!!

Coy and I are still mudding sheetrock.  I feel like it is never going to end!

Rain and more rain

So, it has rained almost all week.  Chad says that's good, because we know that the wall is not leaking because the 2nd floor is dry.  To me, it looks like our front yard is a mud pit. Katie and Julie think thats awesome because they love to play in the mud!  Me, not so much.  Both of the overgrown apple trees are out.  Now there is room for the kids swingset and my mini garden.  Thank you Boone Rent All :)

Rain does mean that we can make some huge inside progress.  Coy, my painter/sheetrock/ framing/everything guy, and I have been mega busy!  Julie's bedroom is painted, Katie's bedroom has the first coat of paint and trim is finished, sheetrock is finished in kitchen and almost finished in living room.  The laundry room has 2 coats of primer, but might need 2 more to cover the bright orange that is was originally. Carpet is out of the master and off the stairs.  I chose a stain for the kitchen cabinets ( this is HUGE ) and the first two are ready!!  They are gorgeous, thank you Daddy!  They should be on site this weekend if it doesn't blast us with snow tonight ( fingers crossed ).  The Town of Boone came and picked up all the debris from the front of the house.  I do love living in the town limits!!!!

The most fun of a home remodel is the mess.  Including getting play-doh EVERYWHERE and mommy doesnt get mad!

One big muddy mess

Chad and Tim started moving the dirt in front of the house today.  They made a ditch about 3 feet from the house and 8 feet deep.  I thought it was a little much, but Chad says its not.  I think he just likes to play on the machine.  They found a hole in the block about 4 feet down, in the corner between the front door and the garage, that is the size of my thumb.  One leak solved!  When all of the overgrown shrubbery was cut down, we found a buried oil tank.  This is a problem we did not forsee coming.  But, like always, Chad says no big deal.  He takes the "digger" ( i dont really know what the real name for it is ) and yanks it out of the ground.  Then, after taking the chain off the digger, he tosses it to the side.  A couple hours later he realizes that he can't find his chain because he buried it under all the dirt.  I just rolled my eyes as he laughed at himself :)  The girls think the bucket is the claw from Toy Story.  They had fun running from it!  I didn't stick around for much after that pic because my Julie has a fever and a nasty cold :(  We came home to cuddle on the couch.  Its going to rain tomorrow (Saturday) so we will definitely be able to see where the other water is coming in.

My chandelier is hung in my entryway.  It looks gorgeous!  I'm so glad the house didn't crash down because it is heavy :)  Coy fixed the floor to help with the freezing cold wind from under the house.  Katie and Julie are thrilled with the snow!  I like the garage for the nasty, wet clothes and the fireplace to warm their hands :)  I think we will start digging out the front of the house later this week.  That's gonna be a muddy mess.
